North German Anvil

Heavy 153kg North German Anvil

North German Anvil
From the Josh Greenwood Collection.
This old anvil had a few rough spots and has been repaired and cleaned up. The long waist supports a high proportion of the long face. Being a forged anvil this size makes it quite rare.
North vs. South
The differences between North and South German anvils is slight but very noticable. The differences are actually less than those from manufacturer to manufacturer.
North German anvils have a shoulder at both horns. South German anvils have horns that blend into the body.
