Tonight’s demo is something, I have been making for 20 years, I think Mr. Elmer Seybold, deceased showed it to me.

You take an old horseshoe, preferably one you just pulled off a horse, and turn it into a $20 Bill. Here’s how:)

To make the horsehead, refer back to the I-Forge Demo, #17, as I won’t go into the detail of how again tonight.

This is the simple end, for the folks that don’t want to spend the extra $10.

Heat up the center of the shoe, and cut it in 1/2 on the hardy at the toe.

After we cut it into at the center of the toe, we take one, and bend it over the edge at about a 45 deg. angle AT THE END OF THE CREASE

This is the metal we will use to draw out and make the hook or pic end (for those of you who don’t own horses, you use this to clean out the hooves).

We start drawing this out as long as you can on the face of the anvil. This should come out about 2 1/2 to 3″ long.

As in the previous figure, you bring this to a crisp 90 deg. I flatten the point slightly, to give it sort of a screwdriver effect, then I come over the horn of the anvil and turn the pic, leaving the last 3/8″ to 1/2″ of the end straight.

I put the horsehead on it for an additional $10, putting 3 letter stamped initials from the end of the crease to the heel of the shoe can add an add’l $5. Anytime you can sell a used horse shoe for $20 to $25 and don’t have to bend over to nail it on, you are bound to be making money:)

Any questions?

HAWK

Where did you say the horse head Demmo is at?? Please?

BILL

The horsehead is Demo. #17 on the I-forge page.

TOM-STOVALL

Can I hear an amen?

TEN-HAMMERS

Amen. Even I can sell these.

I’ve always liked the part about making money off a shoe too wore out to nail back on.

DIMAG

I have made them out from everything from 00 to #2’s, but I prefer the #1 horseshoe.

PIX

Bill I like it… Just made two picks for the KY abana fest.(donated) , {Point on one end, scraper on the other, with a twisted handle.

Mainly, I use whatever the horseshoers drop off when they come shoe the horses, cause I ain’t in the busineses of nailing on horseshoes anymore, LOL:)
