In the U.S. These graceful Old anvils are called “Colonial” due to being from the Britih, French and Spanish colonial periods. This is an Old hornless British anvil from about 1700-1750. These were commonly used in association with stake anvils. Heavy forging was done on the hornless and delicate bending and scrolling done on the stake.
